How it All Began Winter Quarter 2004 – The Idea ISPE representatives came to UC Davis and spoke to a Chemical Engineering and Materials Science class taught by Dr. Robert Powell, Professor/Chair of the Chemical Engineering and Materials Science Department. The presentation was to inform students about ISPE and what the organization offers to students. The ISPE guest speakers were Kristen Dezzani and Mary Scomona from Alza and Chris Humphrey from Professional Service Industries, Inc. After the presentation, students Gary Kessler and Emily Mason discussed with Dr. Powell and the ISPE representatives about the possibility of forming a student chapter at UC Davis. Spring Quarter 2004 – Our Student Chapter is Born! The ISPE UC Davis chapter was co-founded by UC Davis undergraduate seniors, Gary Kessler and Emily Mason, with the advice of Chemical Engineering professor, Dr. Karen McDonald, and Industry Representative, Kristen Dezzani. The ISPE student chapter at UC Davis is affiliated with the San Francisco/Bay Area ISPE professional chapter, composed of pharma/biotech industry professionals in the area. |
